56th Cattlemen’s Assoc Rodeo

The Marion County Cattlemen’s Association hosted their 56th Annual Rodeo at the Columbia Exposition Center on January 14th and 15th, 2011. The rodeo featured over four hundred competitors in a variety of classes, such as Team Roping, Saddle Broncs, Barrel Racing, and Bull Riding. Crowds were entertained by the exciting action of the rodeo competition. The rodeo in Columbia is the oldest in Mississippi and was the first rodeo in the United States held at night under lights.
Two-time World Champion Rodeo Clown Lecile Harris came to Columbia for the 56th Annual Marion County Cattlemen’s Association Rodeo and entertained the crowd with his unique brand of comedy and clown antics. Lecile has been named PRCA Clown of the Year for four years and works over 150 performances a year including many of the biggest rodeos in the world.
Lecile has been a rodeo clown since 1955, but he has also had a successful career in the music industry as a session drummer and he has appeared in numerous movies and television shows. Lecile met fans and signed autographs at the Town and Country Feed Store, which was one of the sponsors of the rodeo.
