When the Rage Came Out

Claude Gooch is an author, who lives in the Cheraw area near Foxworth, Mississippi, that has released his second book called “When the Rage Came Out.” His first book was called “Carlos” and was released last year. Claude is in the process of writing his third book, which he says is “a romance novel that everyone can relate to” that should be released this fall. Claude has a seven year contract with PublishAmerica, for which he intends write many more books about family relations and romance/suspense novels.
PublishAmerica is the home of 50,000 talented authors. PublishAmerica is a traditional publishing company whose primary goal is to encourage and promote the works of new, previously undiscovered writers. Like more mainstream publishers, PublishAmerica pays its authors advances and royalties and makes its books available through all bookstores. PublishAmerica offers a distinctly personal, supportive alternative to vanity presses and less accessible publishers. “It has been an extreme pleasure to work with this talented and dedicated author,” said PublishAmerica Public Relations Director Shawn Street.
“When the Rage Came Out” is a tale of how one man goes into an evil rage and becomes abusive after drinking alcohol. Moses Wilson was that man. After coming home from being with his friends drinking, Moses would demand, his stepson, Chad, to hay his cows. When he complained, Moses would twist his arm. When Mary Wilson, Moses’ wife, found out her son was being abused she took him to stay with her parents. She figured she could withstand the verbal abuse from her husband, so she stayed with him. Mary found out later Moses was having an affair with a young woman at work. That hurt her so deeply that she decided to separate from him. Being separated for a period of time she decided to file for divorce. That is when Moses lost all control.
Claude Gooch started writing for its therapeutic qualities when encountering debilitating disease, due to the high blood pressure he has suffered from since the age of 18. The act of writing so drastically lowered his blood pressure that his doctor said, “Whatever it is you’re doing, keep doing it.” Claude was encouraged to write, when he was younger, by his father who has several degrees and has written a couple of politically oriented books, but Claude was more interested in other things at the time.
Now, Claude likes to write at night because it is more peaceful and there are fewer distractions, and he says, “I learned a lot from my first book, and I am learning a lot from this book. Writing is really time consuming. Sometimes I’ll start writing and before you know it, the entire day has passed. I am going to keep writing as long as possible because it is really enjoyable, and I want to help others that I see going through things.” He also says, “I just like to start writing and see where it takes me. Sometimes, it is hard to know when to stop writing. My wife frequently catches me laughing at some of the characters in my books, as I am writing.”
Claude’s books are available for sale in the bookstores and online, and they are also available in the Columbia Public Library. Claude will be signing books this year at the Mississippi Blackberry Festival in Columbia on the first week of July. If you would like to order a copy of “When the Rage Came Out,” click here.
