Matt Wood Floral Design Show
“A New Day” Floral Design Show with Matt Wood was held at the Columbia Auction House on Thursday, May 5. Matt Wood once owned the flower shop called Flowers Unlimited in Columbia and is now the Creative Director for Winward International, the premiere manufacturer and distributor of handmade botanicals and seasonal decor.
As a designer, Matt’s incredible sense of color and texture, combined with his ability to breathe life into the permanent botanicals, which he spends his time creating in factories around the world is unparalleled. Matt’s special touches result in floral designs that may fool the most avid of gardeners. Matt now lives in San Francisco and recently played the part of himself, as a floral designer, in a Hallmark movie with Jane Seymour.
The floral design show was presented by Main Street Columbia, Inc. and featured containers from sponsors such as Say It With Flowers and Mainstreet Gifts. About a hundred attendees learned flower arranging techniques and snacked on food that was catered by Second Street Bean. After the show, the arrangements were auctioned off by Jennings Gilmore and Matt signed copies of his floral design book, The Seasonal Home, for the attending guests.
